Stretch and Bobbito

Stretch Armstrong Reminisces...

"Walking back from a shooting in Harlem, we bumped into Stretch Armstrong, right in front of WCKR - that's the station where he started, in 1990, what would later become the "Stretch and Bobbito Show", which many consider the best show ever. The guy NORE used to call "the albino ostrich" recalls a number of great moments and a greater number of (then) unsigned rappers who blazed the show - cats like Jay-Z, Eminem, Big Pun, ODB, Big L, Biggie, and also a 16 y.o kid in shorts named Nasir...."

This is dope for anybody who was ever a fan of Strech & Bobbito's show on WKCR back in the 90's.  It's basically Strech reminiscing about the good old days and talks a little bit about the MC's who came through the show before they were famous (including dope Nas and Kool G. rap stories). And just because, I went on a Stretch & Bobbito link jacking mission for copies of the their show. Hit the links below courtesy of DirtyWater.

The Stretch Armstrong & Bobbito Show(s)

I've been doing radio in one form (college) or the other (commercial) since 1994, and one of the main influences on my desire to do radio and on the show itself was the Stretch Armstrong & Bobbito Show on WKCR in New York. Bobbito and crew were mad funny and Stretch always had the newest and illest shit. Plus, every rapper who was anybody (or would become somebody) came through Stretch and Bobbito. They always had the craziest guests. I'll go as far as saying this is THE most legendary college radio show ever. Hit the link below for a bunch of their shows from the mid 90's featuring guest shots from Nas, Big L, Black Moon, Smif-N-Wessun, Common, DJ Premier, Black Rob, Shyne, Tha Alkaholiks, Casual, AZ, Organized Konfusion, Lord Finesse, and even Rosie Perez. All these artists were at the start of their career when they hit the show so you are getting the Illmatic Nasty Nas, not the Nastradamus Nas. Big up RecognizeTheReal.
