BET Ciphers

Featuring: DJ Premier, Mos Def, Black Thought, Eminem, KRS-ONE, Wale, Nipsey Hussle, GSan, Joe Budden, Nicki Minaj, Buckshot, and Crown Royyal.

I personally love the first cipher with three of my favorite emcees of all time (let the arguing begin). The first time I seen this video I felt something I haven't in a long time that only REAL HIP-HOP can give you. Oh yeah, it's called RELIEF.

Why do I have a sneaking suspicion if Souljaboy, OJ Da Juiceman and Gucci Mane had a cipher it would sound like recess time for special ed?

I'm just sayin.

DJ Premier "Michael Jackson Tribute Mix"

DJ Premier goes through his favorites from MJ's entire catalogue starting in 1969. This was recorded live on Premier's satellite radio show "Live From HeadQCuarters" on Friday June 26th.  Preem goes in with back to backs, transforming and all types of shit making it an official Hip Hop experience. Man, I know Michael's catalogue like a mother but I still need a playlist for some of these joints Primo puts down!

Jay-Z "Can't Cheat Death" (Produced by DJ Premier)

That title may have been a little misleading because this is not a brand new Primo produced Jay-Z record. This is from a project called “Premier Issue Vol. 7: Hova Edition” that Primo is doing where he puts Jay-Z acapellas over his own beats. The first leak has Primo using Jay's "Pray" while he makes up a new chorus Primo style. The concept seems fresh to death but for some reason only known to Premier he hooked up Jay's acapella off beat. It comes in too soon which accomplishes two things - 1) it results in Hov rocking a new flow, and 2) makes it sound fucked up to the point I can't listen. Depending on how you you look at it you'll either find this tune super dope, or super annoying. Hopefully vocals on the rest of the tracks are hooked up properly because the Jay-Z/Premier combination is the sure shot.

C.N.N. "Grand Royal" (DJ Premier) + 1 more

Here is the brand new one from C.N.N. and DJ Premier. Shit bangs. Also, the kind of new one from C.N.N. featuring Mobb Deep that only bangs a little bit but here it is anyways.

50 Cent & Premier "Shut Ur Bloodclot Mouth"

Curtis jumps on a Primo beat and proceeds to talk a lot of shit. I'm feeling this. Now I want to hear 50 on a beat from Pete Rock, Large Pro, Marley Marl, RZA, or whoever else has that boom bap shit.

Ludacris & DJ Premier "MVP"

Primo gives Luda the Gang Starr treatment on this one. Off Ludacris' new album Theatre Of The Mind that features Luda collaborating with half the music industry. This is the only song that doesn't feature another rapper or singer. It's also one of the better joints on the LP.

Treats #44 - Nas "Original Represent" Inst.

The following post has been completely jacked from Unkut (a very jackable site). This isn't really a hard to find jem because DJ Premier's Beat's That Collected Dust just came out and that is where this is from, but I'm still going to label it a Rap Treat anyways. This is the original version instrumental of Nas' "Represent" off his Illmatic album. Nas was super picky when it came to choosing beats for Illmatic and this one didn't make the cut, but it has the "Represent" chorus on it so at one time it did. Represent, Represent!
