I'm still not sold on Asher Roth. His frat boy image is cool and everything, but it's not my thing. On top of that I can't get past the Eminem comparisons. His voice is just too similar. I realize this isn't Asher's fault and that he raps about different shit than Em, but so far I just can't get past it. This is something that Asher is just going to have to deal with like it or not, and it's pretty obvious that he does not. Here is the latest leak from Asher. The track is called "As I Em" and he's addressing the Eminem issue head on. The song is actually pretty dope. Up until now, Asher hasn't made any music that has me checking for him like I have been checking for Pac Div, or B.o.B, or Kid Cudi. When you get down to it, it's all about the music. If your shit is dope then people will over look things like the Eminem similarities. We'll see. Asleep In The Bread Aisle in stores 4/20 (get it?). Listen above, download below.

I'm still not an Asher Roth fan and really see no reason for XXL to name him as one of the next 10 MC's to blow (other than maybe the amount of money Interscope spends in advertising with the magazine), but this combo cracks me up enough to post this record. Jim Jones and Asher Roth together on the same tune. I guess Jim wants that college/frat boy/party until you throw up/let's wrestle crowd.

I really wanted to front on him because he reminds me of Slim Shady so much, but I guess any white rapper with a somewhat winy voice (not a diss) will remind me of Eminem. On top of that, he doesn't really have any songs that I like and when I see video like THIS of him making the crowd go absolutely mild I really don't get excited ("Roth Boys" video is dope though!). But I still want to see this dude win. He really is on his own shit, and he can spit. He also has Beanie Motherfucking Sigel declaring that Asher Roth is "the future". Plus his Dad (David Lee) is the front man for one of the greatest rock bands ever!*

Asher RothWritten By Jay Swing on Fri, 08/15/2008.This is video of an Asher Roth interview with DJ Whoo Kid. I'm not sold on this dude yet, but other people seem to be. But, after I watched his "Roth Boys" video (below) he kinda won me over. Then again, his "I Love College" song is doo doo (even though it reminds me of "Van Full Of Pakistans" by Y'all So Stupid which is great).
