The Juice Crew "Mr. Magic Tribute"

This is dope as hell to me. Most of the members of the Juice Crew (Kool G Rap & Masta Ace are absent for some reason) come together to pay homage to the legendary Mr. Magic.

Treats #64 - BDP Interview On WBAU (1987)

This is a crazy interview that KRS One and DJ Scott La Rock (aka Boogie Down Productions) did on Doctor Dre's "The Operating Room" show on 90.3FM WBAU back in early '87. What makes it crazy is there aren't too many BDP interviews that I've heard that are with both KRS One and Scott La Rock due to La Rock's tragic passing in August of '87. The other reason this interview is dope is because it was during the height of the BDP vs. Mr. Magic, Marley Marl and MC Shan feud. This is just before Criminal Minded dropped and both KRS and Scott La Rock air out Mr. Magic and break down what led to the legendary battle. If you don't know about BDP vs. Juice Crew (which was really more BDP vs. MC Shan) then it's time to play catch up. Here are the 4 main records that make up the battle on wax including "The Bridge Is Over" (which in my mind is the greatest diss record in the history of Hip-Hop music). Also, check the video below which breaks down the whole "Bridge Wars" and features interviews with KRS One, MC Shan, and Marley Marl (who concedes that BDP won).

Treats #57 - Marley Marl's The Juice Crew EP

This is the reason I took down the Kool G. Rap "I Declare War" Rap Treat - Marley Marl's The Juice Crew EP that the G. Rap song is original from. Usually I wouldn't post a whole release like this, but since it only came out on wax and was limited to 350 copies (which are all sold out) I figured it's cool this time around. Plus, it's dope as fuck and I'm a Cold Chillin' junkie so here you go. Big up DWG for even think of putting this out and making it happen.

This is a collection of never released before material that Marley Marl had left over from Juice Crew recording sessions from the late 80's. The G. Rap "I Declare War" record is left over from the Road To Riches sessions. The Super Kids record is a very young Tragedy the Intelligent Hoodlum and was recorded the same week as "Eric B Is President" & "The Bridge". Big Daddy Kane's "For Your Own Concern" has been floating around Blogland as a radio rip, but this is the straight off the master version. The song was intended for Long Live The Kane but according to the press release it "some how never made it". The second Kool G. Rap record is "Enter The Dragon" which came out in 1996 but with a not so good remixed beat that wasn't the original Marley Marl version. This version is the original. Craig G's record "Drop A Bomb On Em" was recorded sometime around In Control Vol. 1, but like the rest of the EP never seen the light of day. I don't even know what to say. This shit here is the definition of a Rap Treat.

I gotta give my man English Bob mega props for this one. His record, his rip, and he's the reason you're getting it. I never got my hands on a copy but if anybody has one I'll pay!
